A Maori professional dancer and performer, Kanan gained her diploma in Commercial Dance from Te Auaha Institute of Creativity in 2020 and her Bachelor of Applied Arts (Dance) from Te Auaha Institute of Creativity in 2021.

Kanan has been dancing for over 18 years and has done many styles of dance which have helped her in her dance and professional journey. She is a strong, versatile and confident dancer and loves to perform. Kanan especially loves to create confronting, fun and uplifting pieces that tell stories that aren't able to be told through words.

Some of her experiences include dancing at New Life Church Conferences for audiences as large as 2,000, choreographed and danced for the New Zealand Teachers Conference at Te Papa in 2021, Cuba Dupa in collaboration with Footnote and Te Auaha, performing as a dancer for the Saints Basketball Team 2021 season, Music cutting, choreographed and danced at leadership camps and Secondary School Stage Challenge.

She has a passion for teaching and wants to share her knowledge that she has gained throughout her years and pass it on to young dancers and performers. She strives to give young performers the confidence, passion and drive to be successful dancers in any way she can.
